What is mindfulness therapy?

What is mindfulness effective in treating? 

Mindfulness based therapy has been shown to be effective in treating anger management, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress, insomnia, stress, substance abuse, eating disorders and an individuals overall wellbeing. 

What are the benefits of mindfulness therapy?

Research has shown that mindfulness based interventions can significantly benefit mental and physical health. They help to decrease stress, anxiety and improve depression symptoms as well as enhance cognitive functioning, improve emotional regulation and strengthen relationships. 

Prevents relapse in depression: Mindfulness  based therapy was originally developed to prevent relapse in people who suffered from reoccurring depression. 

Reduces anxiety: Mindfulness helps decrease symptoms of anxiety by encouraging a greater sense of calm and emotional regulation.

Sessions are available in person in Niagara Falls and online. We offer a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to discuss your needs and answer any questions. The initial session is 75 minutes for $100, follow-up sessions are 60 minutes for $75, and a package of 3 x 60-minute sessions is available for $200. For couples we offer a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to discuss your needs and answer any questions. The initial session is 75 minutes for $150, follow-up sessions are 60 minutes for $110, and a package of 3 x 60-minute sessions is available for $275.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is a mind-body practice that focuses on empowering individuals to move towards improved physical, emotional and mental health through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga using movement, mindfulness, meditation, relaxation and breath exercises to help relax, relieve stress and manage underlying conditions and symptoms in a therapeutic environment. 

How does yoga differ from Yoga Therapy? 

Individual vs Group: Yoga Therapy is 1-1, adapting to an individual's specific needs challenges (trauma history, illness, injury, stress).

Therapeutic Goal: Incorporates a therapeutic relationship that aims for healing and addressing dysfunction, goal setting and lifestyle management, not just general wellness and fitness.
